After buying the Cartographer and the CNC mount for Stealth Burner, I realised when installing the CNC mount that the X-Axis endstop was too far forward.
I also realised this mount didn't come with a metal stand off like the Chotic Labs TAP and similar do for the X-axis end-stop.
As I have plans to move to CNC XY joints instead of my self made ones I needed that switch in the same spot the TAP and the original SB mount would have placed it.
So after a few rounds in TinkerCad here's the results.
You will require:
- 2x M2*10 or longer cap head bolts
- 2x M2*3*3.6 Heated inserts
- 2x M2*10 Caphead bolts to hold the X axis switch to the adapter ( this likely came in your kit with the CNC mount)
- 1x Omron D2f-5L switch for the end stop unless you already have this
- wiring appropriate for going from the switch to your chosen tool head board.
- 1x zip tie to secure the wire from the end-stop switch to the adpter for wire management
I had considered using heated inserts on both ends but this isn't ideal as the cnc mount has threads.
You can use longer bolts ( like M2*12 ) for the 1st 2 M2 bolts as they will self thread into the adapter adding strength to the part if you like.
Recommended to print this with ABS, at a minimum if your printer is encosed. You can also use higher temperature materials if you like as it will just add to the over all strength and heat resistance and keep it from bending over time which would throw off your end stop location.
If there is a need to make alternates to move the switch forward, backward slightly up or down. feel free to comment or message me. I'll try and help make a version that others might need as well as yourself.
