I had made a pool equipment hanger to go on my fence previously (Check my other model if interested), and just reused the dimensions to make a bracket to hold up a shelf. This bracket holds a 5.5" wide shelf board, a 1" x 6" board is actually 5.5" across FYI. This could be made to hold larger boards but I wouldn't go past 10" if I were you.

The spacing and number of these brackets is up to you as well. I had a scrap piece of 1x6 left over from some baseboard trim and just used that, I think it was 3-4' long? I would say at 4' you are good to use 2 brackets but past that use them every 3'. So a 10' shelf would need 4 IMO. I also included a “Fence Test” model so that you can print that out to see if these model will work on your fence. That way it save you hours and filament to see if these will work for your or not.

I didn't use screws in my original model to secure the board to the brackets, I just used E6000 adhesive. I didn't want any hole or space where a bug or wasp could nest. I used a M5 heat insert and bolt so that I could clamp this bracket to the fence, don't over tighten because you will crack the print.

the picture was taken after a year in use outside, by my pool, in constant sunshine.. As you can see the paint is wearing on the shelf, but the prints are strong.
