Update 1/8/26 -- Added a version with a grid for sketching from a reference photo. I use the GridArt Pro app to add a 4x8 grid to my 5"x7" photos
I needed a way to pick the best crop for my drawing when I'm going to put it in either a 5x7 or 6x8 (with mat) picture frame. I made this template to preview the framed picture and mark the corners for cutting to fit in the frame.
The inner opening is 4.5" x 6.5" this is the opening dimensions for most 5x7 frames, as well as the opening in a 6x8 frame that is matted for a 5x7 image.
The corner cutouts are 5x7 for trimming the paper square to the cropped image you select.
The outside dimensions are 6x8. If you start with larger paper than I did, you could cut here for a 6x8 frame.
