Introduction

I tried to print and install a quite brilliant EMS made by Fizzy Tech, but found out that it requires to disassemble whole bed and once mounted and assembled back it would be not possible to move components around.

So I set out to design a better system that would be built on the same principles but provide more flexibility in terms of rearranging components. I also wanted to have a solid foundation and open system for mounting components and decided to go with OpenGrid and MultiConnect designed by DavidG.

For mounting evrything securely I used Self-expanding snaps by mitufy.

BOM

For the deck panel

  • 16x M5x10mm BHCS (or SHCS, doesn't really matter)
  • 16x M5 T-NUT
  • 4x 12-14 M5 flat SHCS (example on aliexpress)

For mounting electronics

  • Handful of M3 heat inserts (M3x4x5)
  • Handful of M3x8 and M3x6 SHCS

Installation

I recommend to print the deck panels first with all required mounts for your electronics and then fit everything together with cable ducts. You can connect panels together using the connectors from OpenGrid. For organizing wires I used cable ducts from FizzyTech.

Then once you decided where everything will be you can unmount all your electronics and DIN rails. Then put assembled decks on the printer and fix with M5x10mm and t-nuts.
