This toolhead cover favours strength and low weight over easy access and magnets.
If you install the constellation extruder you won't need to access the hotend often since you can simply change the nozzle from the bottom.  It also doesn't cover the toolhead LED pads.

The fanshroud might also be compatible with other hotend mods

One of the lightest toolheads: 36g of printed parts, 30g fan and 2g of screws for 64g in total. compared to 95g of the gamma toolhead, 99g SE3D and over 120g for the stock toolhead. As of now (from my knowledge) the lightest toolhead, in part due to minimal hardware.

Big thanks to Robert Samples for making the gamma toolhead step available and providing the idea of the replacable fan mounts!
Also thanks to SZ45 for additionnal duct testing and anna for eddy testing on the open centauri discord!

Image gracefully provided by jaimbo on the OC discord.

Now also supports CC1 Canvas and CC2 (needs widemouth 5020 4 pin fan like on the cc1)!

BOM

  • 2 M3x6 BHCS (only for screw pegs)

  • 1 M3x10 FHCS (stock back screws can be reused aswell)

  • 4 countersunk screws from the stock cowling (M3x6mm FHCS)

  • (2 M3x8 FHCS) Only for BTT EDDY mount

Print settings

  • 0.12 mm layer height

  • 2 walls

  • Print as oriented

  • NO supports

  • Print out of ASA/ABS or better

  • Precise wall

  • Precise z height

  • Ensure vertical shell thickness All

  • Bottom/Top shell thickness = 1mm

  • 10% gyroid infill (or other just has to be low density)

  • Orca slicer or derivatives required

How to use the modifiers

  • Import front cowling.3mf and switch to the object view

  • Choose which duct you want, by default it's the round duct, and delete the other ones.

  • Set the duct you chose to be a negative part if it isn't already

  • If you want to use the eddy probe, set the Eddy negative part to be negative

  • Apply the above mentioned settings

Installation

  1. Remove elephants foot from the hexagonal holes if necessary, and remove the included supports that are beige colour in the picture below. For the top left edge you will need to carefully cut it with a knife.

  2. Cut the threads in the pegs with a M3 screw while making sure to not go too far, to make this easier you can hold it with a towel or similar. (only for screw pegs)

  3. Insert the fan into the cowling.

  4. Insert the pegs into the cowling and fan, this is a tight fit and might require a bit of sanding or scraping to get working.

  5. screw in the fan with 2 M3x6mm BHCS, DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN IT.  The pegs and printed threads are quite weak so it doesn't take much. If you break one you can just replace it.

    or

Place the wedges into the clips to lock them in place

  6. Place a small disc magnet on the left screw of the filament detection board to remove the warning in the firmware (only for CC1 canvas and CC2) (picture coming soon if i get permission to reuse it)

  7. Attach the cowling to the toolhead using the 4 M3x6mm FHCS, don't forget to plug in the fan.

  8. Attach the back bumper to the toolhead using the M3x10mm FHCS.

  9. Let it rip

  10. For Eddy only set the probe offsets to:
    x_offset: -23.076
    y_offset: -24.767

V2 - 01/02/26 Major visual redesign, different fan mounting solution, shrinkage gaps

V2 - 05/02/26 Added Hex duct version

V3 - 16/02/26 Slight visual improvement, Improved intake duct geometry resulting in 33% increase in downforce (only quantifiable test i have the equipment for), Added Clip Pegs that hopefully are less fragile, added support for 7mm usb endoscope camera (instructions coming some time in the future)

V4 - 01/03/26 Added support for BTT eddy and restructured the cowling configuration

V4.1 - 01/03/26 Fixed Z offset for eddy

V4.2 - 16/03/26 Added option for non countersunk screws

V5 - 23/05/26 Support for CC1 Canvas inspired by ErWin's remix with help from Chrimorin fixed front support z distance, added relief cut on fan lip to ease with removal. Reduced back and diffuser screw sizes by 2mm to be able to reuse stock screws

V5.1 - 28/05/26 fixed back bumper capacitor and connector placement for CC2

V5.2 - 16/06/26 decreased support distance to 0.12mm
