Mini ITX NAS Case (Hot Swap)

I wanted to design a custom ITX NAS case using parts I already had lying around—mainly a full-size ATX power supply. This is what I came up with.

The case supports one 120mm fan in the front (a fan guard may be needed depending on how many cables are coming from the PSU). If you’re not using the PCIe slots, there’s space for an additional 120mm fan in the top. The PSU also functions as an exhaust. The HDD rack has room for two 80x15mm slim fans.

The parts are screwed together with standard fan screws.

There’s also mounting space for a standard SSD underneath the PSU if needed.

I’ll include a STEP file of the case so you can adjust things like the power button size or make other modifications.

Printing recommendations:

• Print the HDD rack and top cover face down

• Print the motherboard tray standing upright

• Supports are required for the HDD rack and motherboard tray

The goal was to make it hot-swappable using Dell PowerEdge HDD trays along with SATA male-to-female power/data adapters commonly found on AliExpress (I’ll link them below).

It can also be used as a standard ITX case by installing the bottom panel instead of the HDD rack.

• ITX version: 10L — 229 × 194 × 230 mm (H × W × D)

• ITX NAS version: 15L — 337 × 194 × 230 mm (H × W × D)

Future updates may include stackable expansion modules or a fully 3D-printable, non-proprietary HDD bay. Let me know what you think!
