This is a Frankenstein remix of two models to quickly create a functional locking OpenGrid insert that can take 1/2 Inch 20 TPI as used by Loc-Line, or rather the Chinesium knock offs of the 1/4" inch piping. That line was originally designed for liquid or gas coolant, but has gained popularity for holding various things in the maker community, with the first emergent being a set of "3rd" hands for soldering.
As the thread was rather loose when using the origin STL, I did rescale it to 99 and 98% to find a tighter fit. The original one was still barely ok, but very easily skipped when ever so slightly overtightened.
Of course there might be also different experiences depending on printer and parameter, so I'm just leaving all of them in. For me the 98% parts are nearly impossible to pull out from the grid plate. YMMV, do experiments!
This is a pure in-slicer remix, where I merged the two objects and then roughly "cleaned" things up by throwing negative volume boxes at it. Jank as hell, but it fulfills my narrow engineering constraints:
quickly done out of existing models
works well-enough™
doesn't look atrocious
Publishing as I have a hunch that someone, somewhere could need it. Especially as the whole half inch UNF thread thing seems not really widely available in terms of 3D printing models. I found a HSW insert and a desk clamp.
