Summary:

M.2 clip/retainer designed to be shortest/flattest possible with 0.4mm nozzle.

I got M.2 A+E key slot to M-Key slot adapter and it was impossible to screw adapter to motherboard after installation of SSD into adapter, but if you would install adapter first, there was no way to screw down SSD :). This clip resolves that. It might fit also most other M.2 adapters.

Content/files:

3mf file with recommended settings and orientation. Also STL with model

Recommended material:

ABS/ASA or other high temperature filaments.

PLA and PETG have too low deflection temperatures to work here reliably - PETG might work in some cases, but SSDs temperatures go up to 60C-80C which will be transferred to its PCB and as this part Part has very low mass and is small, it might result in creep and worse retention or complete clip failure.

Recommended slicing settings:

  • Layer height: 0.08mm (or similar)

  • Brim might be required (half of my ABS prints of this clip without brim failed)

  • Wall Generator: Arachne

Assembly instructions:

Just clip in and then rotate head over SSD. It is quite small so you might need calipers to squeeze the clip and remove it for host board.
