This is a 12HP 3U Eurorack pod. The structure is interior. This variation has low sides to facilitate units being combined in a row. Units can also be stacked. The rail “nuts” are 3D printed and are self-tapping with M3 bolts*. Rack units can be bolted together or to other hardware or boxes using M4 bolts or 3.6mm rods. Holes are self-tapping.

  • Module depth at the middle: 41mm.

  • Module depth at the left and right edges: 38mm.

Overall dimensions:

  • height: 132mm;

  • depth: 51mm;

  • width: 12HP = 2.4in = 61mm.

Notes on combining multiple units horizontally:

  • Obtain 2 metal unthreaded rods that fits snuggly into 3.6mm holes in side of pod. These rods should be about 27mm long. (see photo)

  • Apply Superglue (Cyanoacrylate) to edge of pod where connection is to be made.

  • Insert a small amount of Superglue into holes.

  • Insert metal unthreaded rods into two holes in side of one pod. (see photo) Blind holes are 15mm deep by 3.6mm dia.

  • Insert Superglue into both holes on receiving pod.

  • Assemble both pods together leaving no gap.

  • Clamp pods together and allow Superglue to harden.

Note vertical assembly of units can be done with threaded M4 bolts of appropriate length. Check that bolt will not impact installed modules. Note bolts are self-threading.

A DXF file for use with a laser cutter can be used to create 5mm plywood cheeks to support an assembly of pods on a desktop. (see photo)

PLA material used (with 15% infill, .15mm layers); filament: 40.5g, 13.25m. PETG material also works.

*Note: If over time you find that the rail “nut” threads have become stripped and are not holding the bolts well, it is easy to apply a small amount of “gel” or “thick” grade cyanoacrylate glue (“CA”  super glue) into the holes with a toothpick. Allow the glue to harden before re-inserting the bolts. Also do not overtighten the screws with a screwdriver. Hand tight is enough for rail bolts.

Also available: a complementary 42HP version. This is useful for combining with multiple units for a longer skiff. (See photo)

Also available: 3D printed 42HP and 34HP rails
