Wobble Reduction Support Kit Compatible with Bosch PBD 40
A 3D-printable stabilizer kit compatible with the Bosch PBD 40 bench drill, designed to reduce unwanted forward-and-backward movement and wobbling during use.
The kit adds an additional support point to the drill column and helps make the upper assembly feel more rigid. This may improve stability and make drilling more controlled, especially when applying pressure to the feed handle.
The kit includes:
Column support extension – extends the support structure along the drill column
Clamping collar – secures the additional support firmly around the column
Threads marking and drilling guide – helps position and drill the required mounting holes accurately
The drilling guide is intended to make installation easier and ensure that the mounting holes are correctly aligned.
Note: The Clamping Collar can also be used without the Column Support Extension, provided that the drill head is not lowered to its lowest position.
Installing the Clamping Collar requires drilling holes into the original machine structure. Carefully check all measurements, alignment, and clearances before drilling or making any permanent modifications to the drill press.
Printing
A minimum infill of 25% is recommended.
For better durability, use a tougher material such as PETG, ASA, ABS, PC, or another wear-resistant filament.
PLA can also be used, but it may wear, deform, or loosen more easily over time, especially in parts that are under constant pressure or movement.
Print the STL files in their original orientation. For example, print the Column Support Extension upright, as loaded.
Installation
Loosen the column locking screw and pull the column out for installation.
Place the Thread Marking and Drilling Guide or the Column Support Extension onto the drill column. Draw alignment lines along both sides of the part, then mark the mounting-hole locations.
Drill the holes using a 3.3 mm drill bit for M4 threads and a 2.5 mm drill bit for M3 threads. Tap the holes.

Install the Column Support Extension using countersunk screws. The extension is optional if the drill head will not be lowered to its lowest position.
Install the Clamping Collar using new M4 × 15 mm screws, or longer screws if suitable. Longer screws may require the holes to be tapped deeper. Bosch uses M4 self-tapping screws in the original assembly, and reusing them is not recommended.
Apply a light coat of low-viscosity oil, such as sewing machine oil, to the contact surfaces.
Move the drill head up and down several times to distribute the oil evenly, then wipe off any excess oil.
