Overview:
I had an old pole where the male threads had snapped off. I cut off the top section of the pole that contained the threads and cap, then modeled replacement ones. The cap slides over the pole’s shaft. The fit should be very tight, or you can use some epoxy to secure in place. The threads have a flat sides, so it can be printed horizontally for strength. It is also are dual ended. One end uses M20x2.5 threads which screws onto the cap. You can add some CA glue or epoxy to permanently secure these threads into the cap, but I haven’t found it necessary. The other end is the ACME ¾ x 5 tpi threads that will be used for attachments.
I’ve included stl files, but I somehow lost the part of my Fusion 360 timeline for the cap or I would have included that and step files as well. If there is enough demand, I will gladly recreate it and release it in a parametric format that can be modified for any diameter pole.
This project utilizes my ACME ¾ x 5 tpi adapters and thread definitions that can be found here:
Printing:
I recommend printing in PETG or ASA depending on the need, but PLA will work for light-duty use. Increase wall perimeters/loops to increase strength. I typically use 4-7 walls. No supports for these adapters are required if printed in the orientations shown.
