This project is a simple water station for wildlife, designed for hot and dry weather.
The bowl screws directly onto a standard PET bottle. Fill the bottle with water, attach the bowl, and turn it upside down. The bottle then automatically replenishes the bowl as the water level drops, until the bottle is empty.
The bowl features ramps on both the inside and outside. These provide small animals with an easy way to climb out if they accidentally fall into the water.
The design gives an otherwise disposable PET bottle a second use while providing an accessible water source for birds, insects, and other small animals.
Safety & Care
Place the water station in a shaded and safe location.
Change the water regularly and clean the bowl frequently, especially during hot weather. Avoid placing it where predators or traffic could endanger visiting animals.
The escape ramps are designed to help small animals get out of the bowl, but no design can guarantee that every animal will be able to escape. Check the station regularly and use it responsibly.
