Veroboard Ribbon Enclosure

A PETG enclosure for veroboard electronics, with TPU seals, an M20 cable gland and a removable clamp for a preterminated ribbon cable. Designed for an outdoor watering project.

Accommodates loose 64 × 35 mm veroboard in a nominal 90 × 45 × 42 mm cavity. The connector passes through the wall before the split seal and slotted clamp are fitted around the ribbon; neither cable end needs disconnecting. Use the matching v16 base, clamp and seals together.

Print one each of the base, lid and ribbon clamp in PETG, and the lid gasket, gland wall washer and ribbon washer seal in TPU. Additional hardware: nine M2 × 8 screws, nine M2 inserts (modelled as 4 mm outside diameter × 3.2 mm long), and a LAPP SKINTOP ST-M M20 × 1.5 gland, article 53111020, with suitable retaining hardware. Reference hardware is included in the assembly CAD; buy these parts.

This design has no established ingress-protection rating.

The build photos show an earlier printed version with fewer ribbon-clamp screws. The current v16 files use the revised three-screw clamp to improve compression of the ribbon seal.

Assembly

Fit nine M2 inserts to the matching pockets. Install the M20 cable gland with its TPU wall washer and suitable retaining hardware. Remove the ribbon clamp and pass the connector through the enlarged wall opening. Open the one-piece stepped TPU seal around the ribbon, slide the slotted clamp onto the cable, seat the seal and tighten its three screws against the compression stops. Seat the continuous lid gasket and fit the lid using six screws. Check your actual connector and backshell dimensions against the 32.9 × 14.5 mm passage. The fine TPU loading slit may require carefully opening after printing.
