This is the next evolution of using stealthburner on the BLV cube for me. Previously, https://www.printables.com/model/261349-voron-stealthburnerafterburner-mount-for-blv-w-orb, I had adapted an existing Orbiter 1.5 mount and designed my own front-plate to support SB & CW2. Running SB in this configuration had several downsides for me:
- Orbiter doesn't have a locking latch like any of the clockwork extruders, it's a nice QoL improvement to have.
- Can't use any commodity breakout/toolboards (there are many SB toolboards available using 14/2 pin microfit as well as CAN/FD). My old breakout board had a fraying cable that needed maintenance, I did the switchover at this time.
- Not very re-usable for everyone else as my previous design had an Annex Quickdraw-specific mount that required modifying the front-plate or replacing the front-plate for maintenance if it fails.
This iteration fixes these issues:
- You can go source/buy a full, ready-to-build stealthburner kit including all PCBs or just move it from another Voron if you have any (I do).
- Can use anything in the Stealthburner ecosystem for mods: alternate hotend cartridges, any choice of compatible PCB, barf neopixels, fan LEDs
- The Z probe mount is a separate, detachable module that can easily be replaced for maintenance, or modified to accommodate other probe types, such as klicky, euclid, etc.
My primary motivation in this is to have my print head standardized across my various printers.
BOM:
- Stealthburner parts kit
- Cable guide from https://github.com/EVA-3D/eva-main/blob/627f3b700ae080c4db20bf7835091fee0eda93df/stls/heat_insert/cable_management/guide/cable_guide.stl (I had to ream out the counterbore holes to just over 6mm after printing to get my M3 screws to sit nicely)
- A dozen or so of Voron-compatible heat-set inserts
- Whatever magnets you want to use for the probe of your choice (Annex quickdraw is 2 6x3mm magnets)
- M3x8mm and M3x10mm screws
- Screws from the original BLV metal kit front-plate can be re-used.
NOTE: these, like most-all Voron parts are designed with ABS in mind (although I didn't make the hole on the probe mount big enough, I needed to drill it out after printing).
30-Mar: added a klicky mount and magnet press helper
