The Rockler Dust Right Quick Connection is wonderful, but it's frustrating when you buy something that doesn't fit standard sizes for the sake of their ecosystem. Before this adapter, you had to use the 4" to 4" quick connection adapter (like, seriously Rockler, why?), which increased the connection point by another 4". With the heavy dust collection hose, this was more torque on a small plastic component on an expensive tool. This looks to remediate the issue by shortening the length significantly.
Notice of Caution
The DW735 has a strong chip ejection and some chips could result in this adapter breaking and potentially causing harm. Take extra care to ensure proper layer adhesion, as any weakness in the wall can cause premature rapid disassembly. I suggest using a larger layer height to ensure the number of layers merged is reduced, which should reduce the likelihood of poor adhesion.
Instructions for Printing
Print in a material won't shatter when it fails (e.g. PLA, etc).
- Rotate the model so the smaller opening is on the bed.
- Add supports, they are need on the outside and inside of the small hole as support is needed on the twist lock portion (I used Cura's normal supports which provided sufficient support but was difficult to remove due to the holes and twist-lock slot).
- Increase wall thickness to 1.5mm to ensure no infill on the walls where the attachment points are.
Print time on an Ender 3v2 was roughly 10 hours.
