Backplate to install a Philips Hue Tap dial switch on top of an existing (NL) light switch in such a way that the original switch mechanism remains accessible (albeit without its plastic coverings).

Similar (commercially available) solutions exist for other Hue switches (e.g. the Hue Dimmer switch) and for UK light switches. Couldn't find any that would fit my light switches…

The backplate layout (ie, its dimensions and screw positions) is identical to the backplate that comes with the Hue Tap dial switch itself – with exception of the cutout in the middle and the increased depth, both to accommodate for the light switch mechanism behind the Hue Tap dial switch.

The light switch in the photos is a Busch-Jaeger (Busch-Duro 2000 SI) which I assume to be a quite standard switch (at least in NL/DE; probably throughout the most of continental Europe?)…

The frontplate snaps into place onto the printed backplate just as with the original. You can easily lift it off from the small cutout in the bottom in case you ever need to reach the physical light switch mechanism.

The provided (Prusa MINI+) G-code/3MF prints in PETG with a 0.60 mm nozzle and 0.20 mm layer-height. It uses 4 perimeters and 0% infill.

It's a simple model; other nozzles, layer-heights, etc. will work fine too. The model can be printed in PLA as well; the parts still properly snap together. I've opted for PETG as it seems a slightly better/safer choice with regards to its mechanical properties around electricity (ie, flame retardancy).

The filament used in the photos is Prusament PETG in Signal White (RAL 9003). The colour is close to (but not an exact match for) the colour of the white Hue Tap dial switch.
