I had difficulty finding the 8mm long M3 screws so I optimized this model for 6mm M3 cup head screws from the local hardware store. While I was at it, I removed the need for extra printed parts and the M5 screws. The 608 ZZ bearings are friction fit (print with supports enabled and try not to clean the support material off too well, the roughness helps to retain the bearing, if you feel it’s too lose, 1 layer of masking tape should do the trick 😊) . The shaft also has extra 4mm of useful space.

I have added the PDFs of the paper stencils I used to mark the drill holes. I suggest you print them out 1:1 scale and cut them out. Take notice that the lid stencil is placed on the inside of the lid and has straight sides. The base stencil goes on the underside of the base and has slightly curved sides.

The 3mm drill holes are arranged in a + and X orientation to ease stacking of the boxes.

I also put foam glue (from the craft store) between the parts to make a flexible gasket, I’m hoping this will make the box even more air tight and let the silica gel last longer.

BOM:

2 x 608 ZZ bearings (ebay pack of 20)

8 x M3 6mm cup head screws (from local hardware)

8 x M3 nuts (in the same pack as bolts)

This is PART 1 of my DAISO box re-design; see my other projects for the full set 😊
