A teacher friend at a local school asked me to help the 5th grade classes build and launch rockets. The jigs were made to assist with assembly and can also be used with rockets that have similar tube ID.
The V2 Rocket Fin Jig was printed to align and to hold the fins as they are glued to the rocket tube before the motor mount assembly is glued into the tube as per the instructions.
The V3 Rocket Fin Jig was created since some little munchkins work faster than others; they do not like to wait while their fellows catch up; they skip ahead; and oops, a few motor mounts got glued in before the rocket fins were attached. The V3 jig allows the fins to be attached with the motor mount in the tube.
Bored to tears holding a motor mount in a rocket tube as the glue dried, an inspired munchkin realized that the V3 jig can also be used to properly space and to align the motor mount in the rocket tube while the glue dries – wait for the glue to get tacky before using the jig. And the jig was later used for reattaching fins that came off during flight and landings. Thank you impatient little munchkins!!

A couple of years ago I helped my friend and her 5th grade class assemble two Jellybox2 printers and the kids had a blast! The Jellybox2 is designed for kids to build and is held together with zip ties. The zip ties make it easy for the printer to be repeatedly assembled and disassembled. It is a good hands on project to introduce younger kids to the technology. And they get to print their own bling that they designed in Tinkercad (adults had to slice)!!
