Why throw away a good pan when the lid cap breaks?
Gasket has been pressure and steam tested. So far (7 months) no leaks with intensive use.
For the bolt, I recommend using a stainless steel one. Bronze/Copper will oxidize and Aluminium is toxic if exposed to high temperatures.
Use very light support for the thread. Otherwise you'll find out that with PET it's damn near impossible to remove.
