"Pasty Print"
for Biqu Hermit Crab (other mounting options coming soon)
(I will be developing this model as I print parts and test, with the hope of creating a final model that works reliably works smoothly, along with a non-toolchanger version for users not running a Hermit Crab, Mutant or XChange etc. )
See page end for changelog.
This paste extruder makes use of a 60mL syringe to extrude pastes or other viscous fluids such as chocolate or ceramic clay.
I intend to use this to extrude chocolate, taking some inspiration from the Cocoa-Press Printer and Teaching Tech's Xchange Paste Extruder.
This version features a modified hot-end heater block with a stainless steel M8 insert bridged directly to the syringe via tubing. This helps to heat the fluid to a low temperature aiding in extrusion. In addition to this a large diameter nozzle (0.8, 1mm.) is used to retain print detail
The syringe plunger is driven by a T8 leadscrew to a simple 2:1 (approx) gearbox to increase extrusion force. A considerable challenge of the design is location of the stepper motor, which has been placed close to the gantry reducing the torque acting on the mount through inertia. It powers the gearbox through an 8mm driveshaft and coupler (T8 leadscrew also works)
I will be developing this model as I print parts and test, with the hope of creating a final model once it works smoothly, along with a non-toolchanger version for users not running a Hermit Crab, Mutant or XChange etc.
Hopefully this generates some interest and pushes paste extruding to become more mainstream, a like and follow would help greatly in letting me know that you are interested in this design and would like me to continue development.
