Greetings and salutations and welcome to my first upload.
Quick story - I ordered a full set of Nextruder 0.25mm nozzles for my XL 5T and they came in these amazing little protective cases. When the ObXidian 0.4mm's were back in stock, I ordered 5 of those. Much to my dismay, they came in generic plastic baggies. I really wanted them to come with the same protective cases that the Prusa brass ones came in. So what was I to do? Well, fire up Fusion 360, fumble around for hours and hours, and finally come up with something that sort of works.
All joking aside, I measured the cap and case of the OEM ones and tried to fashion a reasonable replica of them. I have included the f3d file for you to mess around with because I know many of you have way better modeling skills than I have. Leaving this model as CC remix friendly and all the open things. Print them, sell them, remix them, whatever you want. Hell, if you make a better version, let me know! I only ask for attribution if you use it. Mainly just for me to see if it worked for anyone else, to be honest.
Print settings:
I printed these using 0.4mm nozzle at 0.2mm nozzle height. Prusa Slicer profile of 0.2mm STRUCTURAL. I bumped the wall count to 3 and most importantly zero infill. I also recommend using a brim because the cases especially are light and thin and I did have one lift on me during test prints.
Regarding the labeling - I thought it would be easier to leave that off the model itself to make it more generic. What I did for my examples is to use the Text tool in Prusa Slicer set to cut to emboss the text onto the side. Seems to work pretty well doing it that way.
I have messed around with tolerances and you may have to work the nozzle shaft into the little cross on the cap. Similarly, you may need to work the cap on and off or wiggle it a little bit onto and off of the case. I did go through a bunch of iterations before uploading and it was either snug or too loose, so your mileage may vary. I also printed them in Prusa PETG clear and Overture PETG orange and PETG is a little temperamental when it comes to fitted parts rubbing. You could try PLA to see if that improves the fit. Or again, I've included the f3d, so knock yourself out. Hopefully you can understand my mad dimension settings and user parameters. It kind of makes sense. See above about how my CAD skills suck. Anyway, hope some of you find this useful.
I don't know if there is a way to caption the photos, but on the fifth image (showing two cases held together), the one on the left is the OEM one and the one on the right is this model.
Cheers!
