This is Hercules, a robotic arm I built.
And yes, It can successfully lift a bottle of beer ;)
Hercules the Robot Arm in Action:
Materials I used:
- It utilizes five 12V 150kg/cm 270 degree servos I got from AliExpress (Make sure the servos are 270 degrees, or else you won't be able to get a full range of motion from the joints. The 80kg/cm servos will also work, but your arm will have lower torque).
- I used these bearings (50x65x7mm) (FYI: 2RS has the rubber seal, ZZ doesn't).
- Some M2.5x12mm Screws & Threaded Inserts
- This 4 Pack of 2020x300mm Extrusion
- M3 T-Nuts for securing the Extrusion
- M3 Screws (6 or 8mm lengths are good)
- M3 Threaded inserts (I like the variety packs)
- Metal 18T Circular Servo Horn (If you don't have any. Sometimes come with the servo, depending on where you buy the servo from)
- 3" Lazy Susan bearing (I got mine from Princess Auto)
- I used a Pololu Maestro to control everything, but you can use any micro-controller you have available.
Print Settings:
- Print the Shaft STRONG. I used PETG@80% infill (PLA+/PLA Meta work as well). The shaft holds most of the weight, so don't skimp out on the infill.
- Everything else can be printed @ 10-20% infill
- Only J2 needs to be printed with support. Everything else should print fine without support.
