Most tools you can purchase are either too small or built more for pottery clay or cake decorations. This design as well as others in the collection are for bigger hands plasticene (non-drying) type clays.
At this point, I call this a prototype as I have yet to use it for an extended period of time to see how it holds up. Any feedback on makes would be great!
I have included a 3mf file as well as gcode file for download.
Notes:
- PLA (I have yet to try with other filament types.
- 0.10mm DETAIL
- 4 Perimeters.
- Supports: Support on Build plate only.
After printing the tool and cutting of and supports, I refine the shape with some 200 grit sandpaper.
At any layer thickness, you will get buildup in the layer transitions. Modeling clay will clean up very easily with isopropyl alcohol. I suspect that thinner layers will minimize the residue buildup. Any feedback would be great.
If you like, you can emboss or deboss text into either or both sides of the flat areas in the handle. I use 1mm deep and 5mm high lettering for debossing which works well. Don't forget, you need to use the Advanced option of using the surface.
We use modeling clay to demonstrate concepts to get or show a full understanding of concepts being studied so having multiple around helps keep the studying going.
