I wanted a good filament guide to prevent tangles. But most of them are too short - if you actually use the full height of your bed, they'll jam up or have problems, if it doesn't literally collide with the filament. Problem is, if you make it really tall, then getting the filament path smooth is a big issue; maybe you start running into friction issues with pulling filament through your guide, or you make it really easy to tangle the filament as the head moves back and forth.
I wanted to switch to a Bowden tube, but then that meant I needed a screw thread.
So I made this.
There's like six early revisions and twice that many failed prints involved in making this thing.
- Print on its side, no support needed. I used PETG, but anything should work.
- Designed for the PC4-M10 push-connect fittings; they'll screw right in. The PC4-M6 won't. Don't use those.
- Placed so that it will cleanly pull filament right off a stock mk3s+ spool holder; some guides pull the filament at a weird angle.
- Fusion 360 archive file included if you want to remix it for the PC4-M6.
- I used https://www.printables.com/model/7978-prusa-mk3smk3s-reverse-bowden-filament-sensor-cove for the cover on the print head itself. Up to you, of course!
