Compatibility

This bin is compatible with the 150 mm Mitutoyo Digital ABS AOS Caliper. Other calipers might fit but were not testet. A PDF file is included, that can be printed at 100% scale to verify the pocket shape and size before printing. Additionally there are three pockets for storing fitting SR44 / LR44 button cell batteries.

General

It is 2 x 6 x 3 Gridfinity units in size which corresponds to a size of 84 x 252 x 21 mm + rim heigth. The height was choosen to match the great work of Clough42. It is not stackable when the caliper is inserted, therefore a version without the top rim is included. There are no holes for magnets or screws, because I dont use or plan to use them in the future. For me the bins work fine with just the Superlight Baseplates. In case I want something more secure, like … when I move to an earthquake prone region, I would use Clickfinity baseplates.

To allow for modification STEP files are included though.

Printing

The bin is split into 2 parts (Part A and Part B), that are to be connected through the underlying baseplate.

I print my bins with a 0.4mm nozzle in PLA using a first layer height of 0.2 mm and a regular layer height of 0.3 mm. I Further use 2 perimeters and 15% infill. The bottom squares are connected around the outside with a 0.1 mm wide line to ensure proper brim generation if required. If brim is turned of, those will be ignored by the slicer. In addition to that, the connecting area between each 4 squares is recessed, so bridging will work properly.

Acknowledgments

The base bin is generated with the great FreeCAD Gridfinity Workbench.
