This Coaster is meant for illuminating your glas at any party or event. The light is automatically switched on/off depending if a glas is placed on top of the coaster or not. The light will only be on, if a glas is on the coaster. Power comes from a commonly used 2032 button cell battery, with a runtime of at least 7-8 hours.

BOM:

  • 1x Power Switch

  • 1x 2032 Battery Holder

  • 1x 2032 Cell Battery

  • 1x Diffusor (55mm diameter, 2mm thick)

  • 1x Led Switch

  • 10x 0603 Smd led

  • some solid core wire (I've used AWG20 but anything ruffly in this range should work)

  • 1x Led PCB (either the one linked below, or any self made board with the dimensions 50x50mm)

  • 1x 3D-printed Part Coaster Top

  • 1x 3D-printed Part Coaster Bottom

  • (optional) 1x 3D-printed Part Coaster Storage (fits 5 Coasters)

(All the provided Ali-Express links are only examples, any other product with similar specs is also just fine)

Assembly:

  • First print the Bottom and Top Parts, the material doesn't matter. The Bottom Part can be printed without any supports, for the Top Part you need to use a 0.2mm Layer height because it has integrated supports for some areas. You also need to put in some manual supports in your slicer for the inner ring which will hold the Diffusor.

  • After cleaning up your Parts they should just fit together and lock in place with a small twist of either part. Be aware that there is only one correct orientation, in which the parts fit together.

  • Next step is to prepare your Led PCB by either ordering my attachted PCB design from a manufacturer like PCB-Way and populating it with led's, or by making your one board. If you want to support me please buy your PCB's over here, there I'm getting a little commission with no added costs for you. Thanks a lot in advance.

  • Test your assembled PCB, then glue it in place for easier assembly of the rest.

  • Do the same with the Led controller. The Placement should look like this:

  • Solder the wires of the controller to the PCB, the red and yellow pair goes to the led's, the red and black one to the battery

  • To finish the battery compartment, remove the two metal parts from your bought battery holder. We will only need those two parts, the plastic housing is not used. After that solder a wire to either part and fit it in the 3d-printed case. You gonna have to shorten the metal part of the positiv side a bit, to meet the space constraints of the case. It should then look something like this:

  • Next strip your solid core wire and glue it into the groove in the 3d-printed top part. Feed the wire through the little opening to the underside of the top part. The wire should be slightly higher then the rest of the top part.

  • Next glue in the diffusor, with the rough side facing down.

  • Last step is to cut the sensor wire of the controller and solder connecting the shortend sensor wire to the glued in wire in the top part.

Congratulations !!

You finished assembly of your very own Led Coaster.
