I had time to waste, so I over-engineered an insert press.

If you want to challenge yourself or simply have too much time, this project is for you!

In addition to the printed elements for the heat insert press, you will also need the following items (I bought everything on AliExpress and paid around €8 in total):

  • 8mm wide, 200mm long linear rods
  • Linear bearings for an 8mm wide rod
  • Two springs
  • 7x M4x45 screws (4 for assembling the heat insert press, 3 for securing everything to the base)
  • 4x M3x12 screws (for attaching the soldering iron to the device)

Assembly:

Everywhere there are blind holes in the 3D models, you need to add a threaded insert into the plastic so that you can screw in the bolts. For everything else, just look at the picture to see where each part fits.

For the handle, I used a 15mm wide aluminum profile, but you can use anything else—or even print the handle entirely, why not?
