What you need
- The TRMNL device, obviously
- 4 times 10 x 2 mm neodymium magnets (e.g. these)
- Optionally, ≤ 60 mm of thin steel wire
Printing & assembly
- Print the plate. A .15 mm layer height is recommended, so that you get 2 layers below the magnets. The model is intentionally very thin there, to maximize the strength of the magnets.
- Remove supports. Their placement is a bit awkward, but they're easily removed by pushing a nail between the base of the hook and the plate itself.
- Insert the magnets. They're friction-fit, and some force may be required. Use the smaller holes to get them back out, if you need to.
- Print the pin. There's an internal void in the model. You can optionally pause the print just before it gets closed up, and insert some steel wire into it. This ensures the pin is magnetically held by the plate, ensuring it won't fall out even if the fit isn't perfect.
- Attach the plate. After inserting, push the plate up.
- Slide in the pin. It ensures the plate can't unlock on its own, regardless of which direction you pull on the TRMNL when unattaching it.
