Untested - test subjects… ehm… volunteers needed.

I'm sure about the mechanical part of this project, my biggest concern is the wire bundle of the nextruder making contact with the wings when printing PLA.

Consists of 3 unbalanced wings, they will close the ventilation when there is no air movement. The two ventilation fans, create under pressure inside the core one which will open the the ventilation. Will work only when printed according to the instruction!

Print instruction:

  • Layer height: 0.2mm
  • Supports: No
    Wings:
  • Fill pattern: Rectilinear
  • Fill density: 100%
Needed for proper balance, without it the wings won't close.

Assembly:

Pick a wing variant:
heavy - will always self close but will pose slightly more air resistance.
light - the centre of mass is closer to the axel so it'll impose less air resistance, but aside from gravity it may also require the vibrations from the printer to self close completely.

Use two pieces of filament to attach the wings to the box. The filament should stick out of the wing 1mm to 2mm. Straighten the pieces of filament as much as possible. After mounting the wing inside the vent box the sides of the wing should not be able to touch the sides fo the box, but there should still be a little of slack.

The wings can be mounted only in one direction - check the attached picture.

The unit is meant to go inside the printer, use 3 M3 5mm/6mm bolts to attach it to the top panel.
