This model is intended to provide a starting point for anyone to make their own tuner to fit their instrument of choice. It has no mounting holes, so it really does require you to modify the design to fit your application. The gear ratio is about 12:1.

There are two shaft designs in the model – one tapers in the middle, and I found this necessary for the violin. The other keeps an 8mm shaft for the whole length and moves the string hole closer to the end.

I drew inspiration from the many great tuner designs on the web from several different designers. However, all of the tuners I found were published with restrictive licensing and I wasn't able to leverage their work directly. So I vowed to publish my design openly so that anyone can easily leverage it to make their instruments better.

If you also like open source hardware and 3D printed instruments, please support my work on Patreon.

If you use the design, consider keeping the three-bladed tuning peg so that I know you leveraged it and I can rejoice in your creation!! But please just do whatever you want.

It prints great. I use this design for the Modular Fiddle platform, and the integrated pegbox with these tuners is available on that model.
