Sept 9 2025 - Insert holes updated from 4mm to 3.7mm. Updated STL file.

This design is dual-purpose:

  • It stops the PTFE tube from dragging against the top of the tubing release on the CFS buffer. The shavings can get inside of the buffer and cause issues over time. This guide keeps the tubing straight and supported higher above the buffer, with flared ends to allow the tubing to easily move as printing progresses. The tubing simply goes through the guide, with no cutting or fittings required.
  • The CFS buffer is originally attached directly to the upright frame of the printer, making removal for repairs difficult. The mount section of this design will now be attached to the frame with double-sided tape, instead. The CFS buffer will then be held in place with 2 screws. If the buffer needs to be removed, simply disconnect the wiring harness, PTFE tubes and the 2 screws. I designed it to use 2x 3x4x5mm inserts and 6mm screws.

Printing notes:

  • Align the guide mount with the guide on the print bed
  • Paint tree supports on the sections highlighted in the attached photos
  • May be printed in PLA or better. I used PETG because that's what I have in the color I wanted.

Parts required:

  • 2 - 3x4x5mm inserts
  • 2 - 3x6mm screws
  • Double-sided tape (I prefer the grey 3M)
