This design is a knob for driving hex dies. It is convenient for using dies for cleaning up threads or threading in soft materials that don't require the torque of a conventional die handle. It is Customizable to fit hex drive taps (or other hex drive or nut items) using measurements from your parts. There is considerable variation in hex drive dimensions, so measuring your items with an accurate caliper will provide the values to enter into the design program in mm.
Adjustable Parameters include knob size, hex measurements and overall height as well as clearance hole diameter. A clearance variable can be adjusted to get a precise fit for your printer and material. If the clearance is just right friction will hold the die in the knob, or a drop of cyanoacrylate, epoxy, wax, hot glue or stripe of tape as shown here can keep the die in place.
Most any material can be used for these prints. PLA works, but for some uses a stronger material may be desirable, perhaps carbon or glass fiber filled.
This design uses OpenSCAD which is a free CAD program that provides a Customizer interface, so you can adjust the variables without editing the source code file. Then render and save the STL file and print that from your slicer.
