Warning: Assembly requires basic soldering and electrical skills.

Features:

  • Size of 78 x 63 x 24 mm (which is smaller than the [Racebox Mini S](https://www.racebox.pro/products/racebox-mini-s) at 82 x 72 x 25 mm)

  • Houses two 16340 battery cells. When using 2x 900mAh, it totals 1800 mAH. This is roughly 50% more energy compared to the Racebox Mini S.
With 1800 mAh, I estimate about 1.5 years of standby time, or 30 hours active time.

  • Improved water resistance: The default build already holds back rain, but you can seal the edge with tape to improve water resistance.

  • Close with 2 screws, or use tie wrap(s). Or both.

  • Holes on the side can be used for safety wire and/or zip ties that go around the body. You can use 2 holes for a zip tie and 1 or 2 for safety wire.

Downsides over alternatives:

  • No USB connector for easy charging. You have to either open with 2 screws or cut zip ties if you used those.
Alternatively, when using the case in a car, the lid might not need fastening,

Hardware:

  • 2x M3 heat insert (3mm thread, 5mm length, 4mm diameter)

  • 2x M3x8 screw: socket cap or button head both fit

  • Double-sided tape (e.g. 3M VHB)

  • 4x 18650 leaf spring battery contact for 18650 cells ([example](https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/4000953728880.html))

Tools:

  • 3D printer

  • Soldering iron

  • Screw driver

Assembly:

  • Put the two M3 heat inserts in the lid

  • Place 2 thin strips of VHB tape on the Racebox Micro (e.g. 2-3 mm wide, but across the width of the Racebox) and place the Racebox Micro in the bottom part of the case.

  • Solder the contacts of the batteries so that the batteries are connected in series.

Warnings:

  • When it rains hard, place tape across the side to seal it. Just in case.

  • If you buy 16340 cells with a USB socket, don't charge them while they are inside the case.
