Filament is expensive, so we want to be as cost effective as we can. Overture sells refill spools that don't have sides, so I wanted to be able to use these (every buck or two saved helps!).

I looked at and even tried various models and didn't really see one that I liked, so I started from scratch (and I enjoy problem solving).

This one is complete with hex-gridded sides. It also has the registration notch for the refill roll.

I've only tried this with Overture refills, so I only know it works on them. But likely won't fit others, since I'm guessing it would be too much to ask the mfgrs to standardize.

Each side takes a while to print on an MK3S+ AND it uses lots of filament, so while this is totally usable (and would print faster on other machines), it's a slog. But they work and have been solid so far.

This was my first version. In the interest of saving resources and leveraging throw-away material, I did another version that reuses the sides from Overture's non-refill spools.
