This uses a Matek mLRS receiver module (mR900-30) with transmitter firmware installed and an ESP8266 (ESP-01) to serve as a backpack.   Photos show it connected to a Radiomaster AX12.  I've tested it but not long enough to get hot yet.

It hi-jacks the 3.3v out of the receiver (using the pads on the back) to supply the ESP8266 which may or may not have enough power.  A fan is installed but currently doesn't have power.  A future mod with a 3.3v supply to run wifi and the fan would be smart.

Here are the parts I used

  • Matek mR900-30

  • ESP-01

  • MillMax 310-47-108-41-001000 to connect to radio pins

  • 30mm Fan (3007, 3.3-5v)

  • SMA to U.fl, 4"

  • M3 Heat set inserts

  • M3x8 flat head machine screws (for the cover)

  • M3x10? flat head machine screws (for the fan)

Printing can be tricky due to support placement.  I printed it with the tabs on the build plate to make sure they were flat but they can bend/break off easily when removing supports.

Special thanks to the mLRS devs!  https://github.com/olliw42/mLRS/tree/main
