Introduction:
This diffuser converts the Nitecore EDC07 flashlight into a portable light bulb. It produces a soft diffused light with no artefacts, ideal for illuminating an entire area or room. Also works well when clipped to the outside of your pocket for personal area illumination that follows you. The diffuser press-fits onto the end of the flashlight and is easy to remove, no modification or glue is required.
Features:
Cut-outs are present on the front and rear to allow visibility of the battery readout and charging port access when fitted (the EDC07 supports charging while in use—combine with a power bank for portable, long lasting area illumination). Since the EDC07 uses MCT LEDs, you can select the appropriate colour temperature for the situation. Works well as a task light, impromptu photography work or just general area illumination.
Note:
Because of the heat produced by the LEDs on medium and high output, this diffuser should be printed in PETG at a minimum. White PETG is recommended for best results. If the tolerances of your printer produce too tight of a fit, you may wish to scale up the part slightly (<1%) in your slicer.
Alternative Version:
I have also included an alternative version with an open end. This allows the beam produced by the optics to escape as normal while diffusing and redirecting some of the side/rear spill to provide illumination to the surrounding area—a nice mixture of diffused glow and long range throw. Printing this variant could be tricky, you may wish to use a brim. I managed it without a brim using a very clean textured steel sheet on a Core ONE.
Colour Change:
Use both black and white filament and set up a colour change in your slicer to match the EDC07 body colour for a more striking look, or a tan colour filament if your EDC07 is in that colourway. See how to do this here: https://help.prusa3d.com/article/color-change_1687
Printing Recommendations:
Print in the orientation provided.
0.20mm Layer Height, 100% Infill in PETG (White).
