This 3D printed bracket is useful for supporting bed slats under a mattress or box spring. Bed slats are the supportive pieces that distribute your weight from the mattress/boxspring to the bed rails.

Dimensions at 100% Scale

Overall bracket dimensions = 5" Wide X 1.5" Tall X 1.25" Deep

Slat dimension to be = 1" Height X 3" Wide

Hardware Required

This bracket needs (3) #8 wood screws to hold it to the bed rail. A fourth #8 wood screw can be used to secure the bed slat to the bracket from underneath. I drilled pilot holes in the wooden bed rails for the 1" length #8 wood screws that I used.  Drilling pilot holes helps to keep the wood from splitting when you insert the screws.

Recommendations

-Use a high infill percentage to make this bracket stronger. >50%

-If you can, have your slats run over the entire depth of the bracket and touching up against the bed rail. This reduces the shear force on the bracket.

-Make sure your slats can handle the weight of the people and mattress/boxspring. I used these brackets on a “Single” sized bed with a box spring under the mattress. The total length of my slats was 38". Box springs help to distribute weight more evenly to the slats. Also increasing the number of slats/brackets will better support your mattress.
