This is a decorative piece that I designed in Blender with an open, minimalist style. It features simple profiles of evergreen trees in different sizes, creating a tall but lightweight feeling. This piece is great for winter decor beyond the holiday season.

Printing notes

  • I printed in Luftzeuge Silk Dual Color PLA at .3mm layer height.
  • Because of the tall columns and small contact area with the print surface, this requires strong bed adhesion throughout. I used my textured sheet for my first attempt and two of the four small contact areas came up a bit. I knew going in that could be an issue seeing as my textured sheet does not do great for silk or matte PLA on these types of taller prints with small contact areas. I ended up re-printing the model again on my smooth sheet with a brim just to be completely secure and it turned out flawlessly. Better better the heater will give you a better end result for this model.
  • The innermost tree is already quite thin, so scaling down the model would not be advisable.
  • Please note that the gcode file includes  ‘X25 Y100 Z200’ as coordinates to rise to after printing.
