Mount to a plaque (the star pattern in the mount allows for passing of a screw driver).  *THE MOUNT WAS DESIGNED TO PRINT IN TPU* (I used SainSmart TPU).  If you print in a rigid material, the star flaps will likely snap off.  Also, the “C” will likely not clamp the shape if you use rigid material.

The stator/back iron was printed with Protopasta Iron-Filled Metal Composite PLA.  I used this method to give the shape an old rusty aesthetic.  The grooves are sized to fit the LED's I used so you'll need to modify to suit whatever you use.

I used these LED strips cut to size.  They are 12V LED's but 9V batteries keep the LED's at a nice low glow for a longer period of time.  I had to solder leads to each length of the two LED strips.

I tried out this 9V battery with the two lengths of the LED strips and determined that it is worth at least 36 hr of power (could be much longer; I didn't test beyond 36 hr).

I used a switch I had on hand.  Feel free to use the “Battery Cap.stp” file to modify for the shape of whatever switch you use.  You could also just remove the switch from the circuit.

I used these 9V Battery Snap Connectors.  I cut off the black protective cover and removed it completely.  I soldered in the switch and then superglued the connector to the Battery Cap with the switch in place.

Regarding print settings:
I used concentric infill.
3 perimeters
Supports On Build Plate Only for the Mount.  Make the Top Contact Z Distance 0.3 mm (to make separating TPU supports easier).  No supports needed for the box, use bridging settings.

I provided all of the “.stp” files for those that want to modify this (e.g. change the switch cut-out, remove the switch, etc.).
