These glasses are just like those paper 3D glasses you get at the movie theater, but they are 3D printed and you can insert any filters you want. You can buy sheets of plastic from various online outlets for all kinds of experiments and fun, like:

Just cut the filters you want to use to 1.25" x 2" (31.75 x 50.8 mm) and slot them into the frame.

The model and print files will print in place for one complete set of glasses.

You can also print the arms separately to get different color combinations. Arm assembly:

Printing the parts separately means you can fit more of them on a sheet as well. Just make sure you have solid adhesion with that bottom layer.

Note that the arms are designed to give some flexibility for different size heads, but they will not fold flat. They can be easily removed and bundled with a rubber band.

The photos shown here were done with:

  • no supports
  • PLA
  • 0.4 mm nozzle
  • 0.2 mm layer height
  • 15% infill, rectilinear (Prusaslicer SPEED mode)

Update log:

  • 2023-03-04: Added filter box and snap-on lid for storage of different filters.
