Why?
I was annoyed having my rulers and callipers lying around and taking up valuable space. I have a number of magnetic surfaces (shelves, whiteboard etc.) so decided to design this.
Design Info
The magnets are 10mm in diameter and 3mm in-depth, they fit quite tight into the hook, I haven't had to use glue in the 12 or so I have printed and in use right now.
Note, evenly apply pressure when pushing the magnets in as you can snap the hook; been there done that more times than I'd like to admit :)
There are 2 depth sizes, as you see in the pictures the deeper one (16mm) fits the “thicc” part of the callipers as a gauge/reference size and then of course the less deep one too (10mm).
Printing Info
- Print on its side
- No supports required
- Higher infill to reduce the % chance of it snapping when inserting magnets
