A friend expressed a need for a pasta gauge like one she saw, and it sounded like something that would already exist online, so we took a peek. while there are many options out there, there was only one flat-laying, drop-in measuring tool of the type she wanted.
That option looks great, but with several changes I wanted to make before printing I crafted my own with differences like:
- Overall size fits a mini printer like my Monoprice Mini.
- Gradations needed are only half, one and two portion options which covers most situations. (Note: 3 = 2+1)
- I included portion texts. Obvious, but adds clarity to have them there.
- A hanging hole, just in case you want to put it on display
- Flanges on either side make for easy handling and hold-down while filling and measuring.
The measured portion sizes of the original piece saved me figuring those out from scratch - so definitely some value to remixing rather than having to cook a bunch of pasta. :)
Kudos to Engineer89 on Thingiverse who had a similar approach to inspire mine.
