I was looking for a cheap way to create a boom for my Andonstar 207 microscope. This is a dirt simple mount that allows me to adapt a Neewer microphone boom for that purpose. The microscope fit is super loose so that I can rotate it freely. This particular microphone stand is a little springier than I'd like, but it has decent reach and is hard to beat for the money.
If I get around to it, I'll update it to use thumbscrews for a tighter fit. It would also be neat to create similar brackets to hold a phone or lights.
