I have printed & installed this design personally. But it is considered an experimental toolhead design as I do not have many hours on it.
It allows you to use your Sprite extruder with an MGN12H rail on the X gantry. Belt hooks in this design are setup for a Voron Switchwire, although it can be adapted for a stock belt if you prefer (DM me). It is designed to use an EBB42 canbus board, which eliminates the stock circuit board and ribbon cable. It also includes mounting holes for a Beacon probe, optionally.
Continue using your favorite 5015 fan mod with this too (in most cases)! I recommend Zuff's ModuLR design over on Cults3d.
For hotend, I recommend the CHCB-OT from Triangle Labs for increased flow rate, although the stock hotend should work fine with new JST-XH 2.54 connectors crimped on.
Notes:
- You will probably want to move your Y endstop +70mm forward of the stock position
- The X endstop switch is mounted on the toolhead with this design. You'll want to put a bump stop on the X gantry where the nozzle is in the Zero position.
- Your slicer print bed dimensions may need to be adjusted.
- You'll need to adjust your bed mesh min/max
- Beacon probe offset was X=2 Y=48
Hardware:
- 8 - M3 heatset inserts
- 2 - M3x40 screws for mounting the main plate to the belt lock piece
- 4 - M3x10 screws for tightening / clamping the belts
- 4 - M3 hex nuts
- 4 - M3x35 screws for mounting the Ebb42 plates to the Sprite
- 4 - M3x18 male standoffs to connect the Sprite to the main plate
- 2 - M3x18 male standoffs to mount your Beacon probe (adjust height as needed)
- 4 - M3x10 countersunk screws to attach the Sprite to the standoffs
- 1 - End stop switch and a 3-pin JST-XH 2.54 to 5 pin JST-PH 2.0 connector
- 2 - M3x18 screws to mount the endstop plate to the main plate
Fusion 360 file included in case you need to make adjustments (or improvements!)
STEP files also included for the individual parts, which can be used in your slicer in lieu of STL's.
Let me know if you have questions or comments. I'm willing to help and/or modify the design as needed. Feedback is welcome as are Makes & pictures of your setup.
