This is a model of my design of a heat press insert press. I've included a fusion360 file because you will likely need to adjust the gap to fit snuggly on your soldering handle. I put some cut up heat shrink around the handle to give it something to grip on.
Non-printed parts needed include: m3 bolts and nuts, and 2 20mm rods, and a few rubber bands. The rods will determine the travel, so make sure the ones you get aren't too long or short. They are commonly used in camera rigging equipment.
When using, it works better if you press down in the middle of the middle section to lower the soldering iron instead of using the handle.
