Ear spiral insert loosely based on a traditional Maori stylistic form. This one will fit 9mm piercings, but the SCAD file is parametric and the object can be scaled by +/- 30% without problems.

Instructions

This particular one was printed in an experimental bronzed PLA in the Diamond Age Solutions workshop. We printed it with a 3mm brim and no support.

After printing, peel off the brim and any loose bits. Flame-polish with a small, blue, flame, and if desired bend slightly to adjust the plane of the tail.

If you wish, you can slip a rubber ‘O’-ring over the point once it is in your ear and push it along the spiral to the point where it stops the spiral rotating out of your piercing.

Note:

3D Printing has progressed since this design was created. There is one with a smoother surface (and much higher poly count) here.
