The keylight consists of 5 parts:

  1. base - currently fits an esp32dev board snugly (check the picture to see if you have the same board). This also houses a DC-plug which should be used with 5V
  2. base lid - a lid for the base to cover up the electronics inside.
  3. channel - channel to house a 12mm led-strip comfortably. Use multiple glued together (with CA-glue) to create a taller version.
  4. diffuser - a 1 layer of print of 35mm width to be used as a diffuser for the ledstrip. It will slide in the channel easily and should not need any glue to stay in place. Printing with a textured sheet will greatly improve diffusion.
  5. channel cap - a cap for the top of the light.

Additional parts used:

Using WLED on the esp32, you can easily set the color and brightness you need. For myself, I put all the colored parts of the leds on white and about 50% brightness, and put the warm-white part on full brightness. This makes sure my face does not look blue on webcam in teams/zoom calls.

I used the following settings to print in 1.75 white PETG with a 0.4 nozzle:

layer height0.2mm
walls2
top shell layers2
bottom shell layers2
infill15% grid
raft or brimno
supportnone
