Replacement chain case designed to fit a Gazelle Bahia Track and Trail, as the bike is old enough to buy beer in the US and I wanted to have some fun with the XL print volume. This uses the full diagonal size and prints beautifully, still cant quite believe it printed such a large piece. I printed mine in PETG with PLA supports, but will probably reprint in ASA once I get an enclosure working as ASA is awesome.
Useful information:
- Mounting holes are 5mm dia with a 10mm slot, designed to fit a 2d triangle with sides 137 x 385 x 440 mm measured from from the centre of the mounting bolts on the bike frame. This was measured freehand with a metre ruler and fit correctly, so if yours is pretty much there it'll probably fit. There is some adjustment room built into the design and I'd assume they're fairly standard.
- Hole for the crank arm to rotate is 140mm dia which works fine for mine (Shimano Alivio 170mm on a 3x8 group set)
- Internal empty volume is 33mm deep around the crank set, designed to fit a 3x8 group set as mentioned.
- 2mm walls felt perhaps a bit more flexible than I wanted when removing the supports, but have performed beautifully on the bike and saved a lot of material when printing.
- DRY YOUR FILAMENT BEFORE PRINTING!! Especially the main body and support reels, it really makes a huge difference to the quality of the final print. An hour on the print bed at 45C with a box over it is enough for a noticeable difference.
