This is a replacement panel that lets you mount a couple of MX-style switches in place of LMB and RMB buttons.

The model is a remix of the 3D scan by Wesk (thank you very much).

Having a X05 revision of the trackball on hand, I couldn't use the aforementioned scans without modification, as those were made for the X08 revision. The outer shape was quite similar (although, some gaps are still present), but there was a whole other structure inside.

I've decided to create the following remix, ditching the original switches for a set of MX-style ones. This was the fastest option for me to get the thing going, although, I would certainly use low-profile switches, if I had them on hand. I find that using this mod without the keycaps is more comfortable, as they tend to obstruct the scroll wheel (use DSA, or mushroom-style caps if needed).

The mod requires some hot glue, and soldering jumping wires. The up-to 3mm gaps are fine for me but you can easily fill them with hot glue. I don't want to change the shape of the perimeter for now, as this could ruin the compatibility with the X08 revision of the trackball.

I will be glad to answer your questions and make further remixes. So do not hesitate to leave a comment or a photo of your print.
