A ski to make pulling ice chests with thin wheels through the sand or snow. Uses 550 paracord and a paracord lock (see below) to secure the ski to the wheel axle. Supports up to 215mm diameter x 80mm wide wheels (about 8.5" x 3.125").

Note: This has not been weight tested to find out the infill percentage needed for a particular weight.

Printing four of these will use around 256mm x 256mm of bed space. At 25% infill, the print time is about 19.5 hours and around 675 grams of filament on a Bambulab X1C.

Additional hardware

  • double hole paracord lock (I used Amazon. Search for “double hole paracord lock”)
  • 550 paracord (I used about a 90cm (about 36") length of paracord for a wheel that is 16cm (about 6.5") tall. So that would be around 360cm ( about 12' of paracord for four wheels)

Assembly:

  1. Thread the paracord through on of the holes on the rear of the ski towards the front.
  2. Continue threading through the front hole on the same side (back to front).
  3. Thread back through the other front hole (front to back) and continue to the rear hole.
  4. Thread through this hole and then leave about 150mm (about 6 inches) of paracord on each side. This should allow enough slack to slip over the wheel and on to the axle.
  5. Thread the paracord lock on to the paracord and melt the ends to prevent fraying.

Usage:

  1. Place ski under wheel.
  2. Loosen the paracord enough to place both cords over the wheel and down on to the axle.
  3. Tighten cords by pulling slack through the paracord lock.
